Terms of Service

The rules for using Irbuu.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Irbuu mobile application, website (irbuu.com), and related services (the "Service"), provided by Irbuu ("Irbuu", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Irbuu is a cultural-heritage platform that lets you read and explore stories about historical figures ("heroes") organized by region and category, save favorites, comment, and optionally purchase content packages or subscriptions. Some content is free; other content requires a one-time purchase or an active subscription.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Accounts

  • You may register with an email and password or via Google, Apple, Facebook, or Telegram.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
  • Notify us immediately at support@irbuu.com of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Payments

  • Paid content packages and subscriptions (e.g., monthly, yearly, or lifetime access) are described in the app at the point of purchase, along with pricing and billing terms.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe and Chapa. When you purchase through the mobile app, transactions may also be processed through the applicable app store (Apple App Store / Google Play), in which case that store's payment and refund rules also apply.
  • Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless canceled before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your account settings or your app store subscription management.
  • Refunds: except where required by law or by the applicable app store's policy, payments are non-refundable.
  • Prices may change; changes will not affect an already-purchased term but will apply to renewals.

5. License and Acceptable Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • Copy, redistribute, resell, scrape, or publicly display Irbuu content except as expressly allowed.
  • Reverse engineer, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
  • Upload unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content.
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or the rights of others.

6. User-Generated Content

  • You retain ownership of comments and other content you submit ("User Content").
  • You grant Irbuu a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your User Content solely to operate and promote the Service.
  • You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights to submit it.
  • We may remove User Content that violates these Terms or that we consider objectionable.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, trademarks, and materials provided by Irbuu (excluding User Content) are owned by Irbuu or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Cultural knowledge is presented with respect to the communities it originates from; nothing here transfers rights in that underlying heritage.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates third-party services (authentication providers, payment processors, hosting). Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Termination

  • You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

10. Disclaimers

The Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content is complete or accurate.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Irbuu and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Irbuu from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ethiopia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be subject to the courts located in Ethiopia, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
